To be honest strikes a fear of terror through the heart

The subtle changes in the face so easy to detect

Dis-interest

Disgust

Confusion

Hostility

The polite cough, adjust, pretend

So many red flags screaming so loud

Your pride shrinking and hiding behind a wall of all the right things

A few utterances later a smile, a nod. Shoulders relax, eyes look around saying “Can they hear me?”

A touch of camaraderie as you both laugh

One more real than the other

Being true is so tough in this world filled with bluff.
